Fixing Issues

Gaps between Boards

Most people who have not previously had a solid wood floor are concerned about the prospect of gaps between boards. How big will they be ? Should I worry about them ?

A solid plank floor will always have some slight gaps between the boards, even when it has been properly acclimatised and fitted. These gaps are a feature of a solid plank floor and should be seen as part of its beauty rather than a fault.

Do not worry, and do not try to clamp the boards too tight to avoid these slight gaps when fitting as this could cause stressesin the floor resulting in other problems at a later date.

Assuming the floor has been properly acclimatised and fitted they will be minimal (a few mm at most) and if you wax your floor will gradually fill up with wax and become even less noticeable
