Fixing Issues

Damp

If there is damp present in the room where you are intending to fit a solid wood floor, it is essential that this be successfully treated before the timber is introduced.

As with concrete and plaster, any excess moisture resulting from damp will be absorbed by the flooring and is likely to cause problems that are neither the fault of the product nor the installation. Bear in mind that damp is often periodic and not evident to the eye, so may not be identifiable at the time of fitting. If you have any concerns we recommend you consult an expert.

If the room into which you have put the floor suffers damp, leaks or flooding subsequent to fitting, this will normally cause problems with the floor. You should check that your household insurance covers you for any risk you may have and that you have complied with any preventative requirements.
